PSHS – Central Visayas Campus

The Leadership and Advocacy Program

A four-year journey (Grade 9–12) where every PSHS scholar explores a meaningful advocacy, builds core leadership skills, and implements a self-initiated project with real community impact.

Successful completion of LeAP is a graduation requirement.

What is a LeAP Project?

Realistic, personal, and grounded in service

Realistic & purposeful

Purposeful, with outcomes the scholar can actually deliver given their resources and interests.

Personally challenging

An achievable stretch — enough to grow, not so much it becomes unmanageable.

Reflection & learning

Something the scholar can reflect on and learn from, not just complete.

Reflective of PSHS values

Grounded in Integrity, Excellence, and Service, and in PSHS leadership standards.

Ethical & science-based

Rooted in ethical, science-based service — consistent with PSHS's STEM mandate.

Broader significance

Connected to an issue of community, national, or global significance.

Why LeAP

Rationale

The Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) envisions itself as the premier science high school in the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region. Rooted in the WAY FORWARD framework, PSHSS prioritizes creating opportunities for scholars to develop essential social and emotional life skills — particularly leadership — through its curriculum.

LeAP also builds competencies in science governance: scholars practice inclusive dialogue, ethical reflection, transparency, and accountability, reinforcing the PSHS mandate of producing leaders who are excellent in STEM and ethically and socially responsible.
