Who does what
Every scholar is supported by three people throughout LeAP: an Adviser, an Adult Supervisor, and (campus-wide) a Coordinator.
LeAP Coordinator 3-unit load / 240 scholars
- Informs the community about LeAP; runs orientation for scholars, guardians, and staff.
- Supervises and trains LeAP Advisers.
- Organizes leadership workshops and capacity-building by Q2.
- Identifies and promotes advocacy-exploration opportunities, including possible Adult Supervisors.
- Validates scholars' advocacy explorations.
- Publicizes completed LeAP projects.
- Reports scholars' achievements to the Academic Council / ManCom.
- Manages records and the program database.
- Facilitates evaluation of the LeAP Program.
LeAP Adviser 3-unit load / 30 scholars
- Assesses the viability of a scholar's proposed project against program standards.
- Approves the proposed LeAP project.
- Monitors progress and evaluates completion.
- Recommends additional capacity-building or exploration for scholars lagging behind.
- Submits scholars' LeAP status to the Coordinator by year-end.
- Endorses completed projects to the Coordinator, including the Grade 12 graduation endorsement.
LeAP Adult Supervisor
May be a school-community member or an external individual with relevant knowledge or experience in the scholar's advocacy.
- Supervises implementation, particularly for off-campus projects.
- Validates the scholar's accomplishments.
- Provides feedback to the LeAP Adviser.
The Adviser or Coordinator cannot serve as the Adult Supervisor, and the Adult Supervisor must not be a relative of the scholar.
Scholar
- Explores advocacies and completes capacity-building activities (G9–G10).
- Submits a LeAP Project Proposal by the end of Grade 10.
- Implements the project with their Adult Supervisor and Adviser, keeping documentation throughout.
- Prepares a project report and undertakes a final review with their Adult Supervisor and Adviser.
Although LeAP is not formally graded, a scholar in their final year who fails to complete the requirements is not eligible to graduate.
